NEDC | Investment | Visit Website
The Nuu-chah-nulth Economic Development Corporation (NEDC) is one of Canada’s longest-established and largest Indigenous Financial Institutions. Founded in 1984 and owned by 14 Nuu-chah-nulth First Nations, NEDC provides affordable loans and business support to Indigenous entrepreneurs across Vancouver Island. Approximately 50% of NEDC’s clients are women-owned businesses.

NEDC has designed a private debt instrument enabling impact investors, foundations, and family offices to invest directly into Indigenous business lending on Vancouver Island. In March 2026, NEDC closed its inaugural investment through Unit E Investments Ltd. — believed to be the first private debt investment made directly into an Indigenous Financial Institution in Canada.
